The phenomena that blew up Instagram

The social network Instagram has a very special flavour because it is where phenomena have emerged that surprise, amaze and stretch the limits of the imagination.

Like an egg

The @world_record_egg account was registered on the social network on 4 January 2019. The initiator of the shuttle challenge threw the cry to give the most ordinary egg a record number of likes in the history of Instagram. And in the first 10 days, users liked the photo 18.5 million times, and there are now around 66 million likes and 5 million followers. And that’s with only one post on the account.

“My God, who is that?”

Cindy Kimberly was just a regular girl until a selfie she posted on Instagram caught the eye of pop singer Justin Bieber. He reposted the photo with the caption, “My God, who is that?” The Cindy beauty now has around 7 million followers on social media, as well as advertising contracts with several well-known brands.

“Follow me.”

Instagram user Murad Osmann and his girlfriend Natalia decided to go on a trip before their wedding and posted “follow me” style photos on social media for fun. The idea proved so successful and infectious that it gained millions of followers.

incredible instagram posts

Skirts and heels

American Mark Bryan has over 600,000 followers on Instagram because of his fight for gender equality. More specifically, because of his chosen form of struggle: the man wears women’s clothes . In particular, his wardrobe is full of skirts and various high-heeled shoes. This is despite the fact that Brian is neither gay nor transgender. He is a model American family man, raising three children together with his wife.

Waterboarding

In 2014, the charity Ice Bucket Challenge launched a challenge in aid of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association. The campaign was organised to collect donations. Pouring water on a social network with a video of the procedure was nothing more than an entourage. But then people for some reason forgot about the essence of the initiative, and the only thing left was entertainment.

Stepan the Kharkiv cat

A resident of Kharkov, who once took in a stray cat and named it Stepan, probably did not even imagine at that moment that a funny picture of her cat posted on Instagram would draw attention of millions of users, including “celebrities” like Britney Spears. The cat and its owner now have about a million followers and several advertising contracts.

Get rich on salt

Turkish chef and restaurateur Nusret Gekce posted a short video of himself theatrically salting a steak on Instagram. The chef had no idea that he had thus made his restaurant and himself hugely popular. Now the chef has 42 million followers, and his restaurant has no shortage of customers, despite its exorbitant prices.
